What are veneers?
A veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored material that is cemented on the front of a tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers also provide strength to the treated tooth. Veneers are custom made, so they look like natural teeth.
Can my smile benefit from veneers?
Dr. Catalina Cruz Johnson may recommend veneers in Houston, Texas, if you have one or more of the following smile flaws:
– Teeth that are discolored
– Teeth that are misshapen
– Teeth that are cracked or chipped
– Teeth that are worn
– Teeth that are slightly crooked
– Teeth that are gapped
How are veneers placed?
First, a small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth or teeth undergoing alterations. This allows room in the mouth for the veneers. Impressions of the tooth or teeth are taken so that custom-made veneers can be constructed. Once the veneer is complete, our dentist will check the fit and color before permanently cementing the veneer in place.
How should I care for my veneers?
Veneers don’t require any extra care. Simply brush them twice a day and floss them once a day, as you would your regular teeth. Also, be sure to visit Dentists at Memorial Park at least twice a year for your professional exams and cleanings.
